Leapmotor Lafa5 Ultra Spotted at Beijing Auto Show, Launching April 24

At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the sporty new Leapmotor Lafa5 Ultra has been revealed ahead of its official debut on April 24. Developed by Leapmotor, the new variant targets drivers looking for a more performance-focused compact EV with factory-backed upgrades.

Sportier Design with Factory Performance Kit

The Lafa5 Ultra is based on the standard model but adds an official performance body kit that significantly enhances its sporty character.

Key exterior upgrades include:

  • Front splitter for improved aerodynamics
  • Side skirts with wing-style elements
  • Rear diffuser
  • Sport rear spoiler

These changes not only improve airflow but also give the car a more aggressive stance. The ride height has been slightly lowered (from 1520 mm to 1510 mm), creating a sharper, low-slung profile.

Design details further set it apart:

  • Matte gunmetal badges and lettering
  • Exclusive colors: yellow, green, and silver variants
  • 19-inch alloy wheels

Interior: Sporty Meets Premium Comfort

Inside, the Lafa5 Ultra maintains the base model’s layout while adding exclusive touches. The seats feature custom embroidery and color-matched seat belts, enhancing the sense of identity.

Comfort features include:

  • Front seats with 8-point massage function
  • Ventilated and heated seats
  • Heated steering wheel

Materials are also upgraded, with over 80% of the cabin covered in soft-touch surfaces and large areas of suede-like trim.

Tech highlights:

  • 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 14.6-inch central display
  • Qualcomm 8295P cockpit chip
  • AI voice system powered by DeepSeek + Tongyi Qianwen
  • 50W wireless phone charging

Improved Performance and Range

According to regulatory data, the Lafa5 Ultra is powered by a 180 kW electric motor, offering a noticeable boost over the standard model.

For comparison:

  • Base version: 132 kW (0–100 km/h in 8.7s)
  • Higher trims: 160 kW (0–100 km/h in ~6.4–6.5s)

The Ultra version is expected to deliver even quicker acceleration.

Battery options remain similar:

  • 56.2 kWh → 515 km range (CLTC)
  • 67.1 kWh → 605 km range (CLTC)

Both use LFP battery packs supplied by Gotion.

Conclusion

With its factory performance upgrades, enhanced power, and sporty styling, the Leapmotor Lafa5 Ultra is aimed at younger buyers who want more excitement from their electric daily driver. It blends practicality with performance, making it a compelling option in the compact EV segment.
