Full Review of Huajing S: SAIC-GM-Wuling’s 6-Seat Family SUV With Full Huawei Smart Suite

SAIC-GM-Wuling is set to launch the Huajing S on May 8 — a large 6-seat plug-in hybrid SUV developed in partnership with Huawei under a strategic “Three Intelligences” collaboration covering smart manufacturing, assisted driving, and intelligent cabin. It is the first model to ship the complete Huawei smart suite as standard across all trims, putting advanced driver assistance and HarmonyOS cabin technology within reach of the competitive 200,000 RMB (~$27,500) family SUV segment.

Design: Clean Lines, Family Scale

The Huajing S measures 5,235 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with a 3,105 mm wheelbase — dimensions that place it firmly in large SUV territory. The exterior avoids the sharp, aggressive creases common to many Chinese EVs, instead adopting flowing contours with a full-width front light bar, L-shaped side vents, and large polygonal lower air intakes. The side profile retains conventional door handles and chrome window trim, complemented by multi-spoke wheels. At the rear, a matching full-width light bar creates visual symmetry with the front. Four body colors are available: Ink Black, Lamb White, Agate Gray, and Amber Blue.

Interior: Three Rows, Premium Comfort

Inside, buyers can choose from Ivory and Sandalwood Brown color schemes. The dashboard hosts a 15.6-inch central touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Higher trims add a second 15.6-inch entertainment screen for rear passengers. All trims run HarmonyOS Cabin 5.0. The Huawei Qiankun HUAWEI iVCS system is standard across the range, delivering dual 5G connectivity, Sentinel Mode, remote smartphone control, and UWB digital key.

Seating comfort is a clear priority. The front seats offer 6-way electric adjustment with 4-way lumbar support, 3-level ventilation and heating, 8-point massage in 5 modes, and a full 180-degree recline. The second row has 6-way electric adjustment, a 400 mm extendable leg rest, independent armrests, 3-level ventilation and heating, and the same 8-point massage system with one-touch flat recline. The third row supports 125-degree powered recline, individual cupholders, and USB fast charging.

The panoramic roof spans 1.07 m² over the front and 1.99 m² over the rear, with motorized sunshades controllable by voice or touch. The cabin features 46-point acoustic insulation using dual-layer laminated glass across the windshield, all four doors, and the sunroof. Total cargo capacity is 423 liters standard, expanding to 1,268 liters with the rear seats folded, across 28 storage points throughout the cabin. Passenger space efficiency is rated at 87.4%, supported by a 190 mm center aisle between the second and third rows and a flat floor.

Top trims add an 8.8-liter refrigerator capable of reaching temperatures between 0°C and 50°C, a Yanfei-Lis (Infinity by Harman) 15-speaker Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 audio system, and 19-point ambient lighting with three modes.

Powertrain: PHEV With Long Range

The Huajing S uses what the brand calls Lingxi Power 3.0 — a plug-in hybrid system pairing a 1.5T gasoline engine (105 kW / 220 N·m) with electric motors.

Three powertrain configurations are offered:

  • 200 km FWD – single motor, 200 kW total, 31 kWh battery, 200 km CLTC electric range, 1,133 km WLTC combined range
  • 255 km FWD – single motor, 200 kW total, 41.9 kWh battery, 255 km CLTC electric range, 1,145 km WLTC combined range
  • 235 km AWD – dual motor, 386 kW combined (200 kW front + 186 kW rear), 41.9 kWh battery, 235 km CLTC electric range, 1,020 km WLTC combined range, 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, peak torque 620 N·m

Huawei Smart Tech: The Core Differentiator

Every Huajing S ships with the Huawei Qiankun ADAS system, supporting urban NCA (Navigation Cruise Assist) and highway cruise as standard — a notable claim in this price bracket, where NCA is typically reserved for top trims. The system is built around Huawei’s Limera cabin LiDAR, mounted behind the windshield, which improves detection of small obstacles in low-light and adverse weather. Standard parking assist covers angled, parallel, unmarked, and obstructed spaces, including Remote Parking Entry (EPA). An OTA update to the full Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 Pro system is planned.

Passive safety includes 9 airbags with extended side curtains reaching the third row (6-second hold pressure), a body structure using 2,000 MPa ultra-high-strength hot-stamped steel, and Wuling’s in-house Shenlie Battery 3.0 pack. Huawei’s CAS 4.0 active collision avoidance system is also standard on all trims.

The chassis uses double-wishbone front and multi-link rear independent suspension with electronically controlled adaptive dampers, REPS electric power steering, and EHBI intelligent braking. Turning radius is 5.85 meters (5.65 m with steering assist active).

Market Context

The large 6-seat family SUV segment in China is increasingly crowded. The Huajing S enters against the Geely Galaxy M9, Leapmotor D19, NIO Onvo L90, and Chery Fengyun T11 in its price range, and competes indirectly with the more expensive AITO M7 and Li Auto L series.

Its main differentiation is urban NCA as standard on every trim — something no direct competitor currently offers at this price point. However, ride comfort, long-term reliability, and after-sales network strength are unknowns for a new brand, and real-world energy consumption figures will be closely watched after the car reaches buyers.
