Great White Shark GWM Poer Hi4-T PHEV Pickup Launches June 13 at Chongqing Auto Show
The GWM Poer Hi4-T plug-in hybrid pickup truck is set to officially go on sale on June 13, 2026, during the Chongqing Auto Show — following its pre-sale debut at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year. Four trim levels are available across two body configurations: the commercial (long-bed) variant is pre-selling between 149,800–169,800 yuan (~$20,700–$23,500 USD), while the passenger (standard-bed) variant is priced at 179,800–189,800 yuan (~$24,900–$26,300 USD).

Familiar Looks, New Power Source
GWM has kept the Hi4-T’s exterior largely identical to the combustion-powered Poer, with no major design overhaul to signal its new-energy credentials. The only visible addition is a charging port on the opposite side of the fuel filler. The passenger variant gets a chrome-trimmed grille up front, while the commercial version uses a blacked-out mesh insert — both use full LED headlights. The commercial bed also adds cargo hooks along its outer rail for utility-focused users.

Dimensionally, the two body styles differ significantly. The passenger standard-bed measures 5,416 × 1,947 × 1,886 mm with a 3,230 mm wheelbase and a 1,520 × 1,520 × 540 mm cargo bed. The commercial long-bed stretches to 5,653 × 1,883 × 1,882 mm with a 3,470 mm wheelbase and a larger 1,760 × 1,520 × 540 mm bed.
Powertrain: 310 kW, 750 Nm, and a Smart Battery Location
Under the hood, the Hi4-T pairs a 2.0T turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 310 kW and 750 Nm of torque, routed through a 9-speed automatic gearbox. A 33.1 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack provides 95 km of EV-only range (WLTC) in four-wheel-drive spec, or 100 km in two-wheel-drive.

One of the more noteworthy engineering details is where that battery sits. Taking advantage of the Poer’s body-on-frame pickup architecture, GWM has mounted the battery pack inside the rear longitudinal chassis rails — giving it a ground clearance of 700 mm. The spare tire mounted underneath adds an extra layer of physical protection. The result is a battery that is well-shielded from rocks, ruts, and rough terrain without compromising off-road capability.
