GAC Trumpchi Xianwang M8 PHEV L Breaks Cover: Dual-Motor AWD, Three-Row Heated Seats, and 235 km EV Range
GAC Trumpchi has pulled back the curtain on the production-ready Xianwang M8 PHEV L, showcasing the flagship plug-in hybrid MPV at dealerships ahead of its official launch. The vehicle, which opened for pre-orders on May 25, 2026, is offered in three trim levels — AWD Ultra, AWD Max, and FWD Pro — though pricing has not yet been confirmed. For reference, the current Trumpchi M8 lineup spans nine variants priced between 269,900 and 409,900 yuan (approximately $37,200–$56,500 USD).

Design: Kirin Family DNA Goes Large
The Xianwang M8 PHEV L carries Trumpchi’s latest “Yipin Qilin” design language, featuring an oversized front grille with horizontal diamond-shaped chrome accents that create a bold, layered visual impression. The headlights adopt a distinctive “7”-shaped profile complemented by laser-style daytime running lights, amplifying the MPV’s high-tech presence. Chrome trim strips run along the door handles, side skirts, and window surrounds, while the rear features a full-width connected taillight design with matching chrome detailing above and below.

Dimensionally, the M8 PHEV L is a substantial machine: 5,264 mm long, 1,898 mm wide, 1,848 mm tall, with a 3,070 mm wheelbase — figures that place it firmly in the premium large MPV class.

Technology: LiDAR and Momenta ADAS
One of the standout additions is a LiDAR sensor paired with the Momenta-developed driver assistance system, enabling urban NDA (Navigation Driving Assist), driver fatigue monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.
Interior: Three Rows of Comfort
Inside, the showcase unit is finished in a black/brown combination with a cockpit-style wraparound layout. The cabin features a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a large 17.3-inch floating central touchscreen. First and second-row seats come standard with heating, ventilation, and massage; on the top-spec AWD Ultra trim, heating extends to the third row, which also supports one-touch fold-flat functionality.

The infotainment stack runs on the ADIGO 6.0 smart cabin system, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip and integrated with the ADIGO SENSE cloud-based AI model. Four-zone voice control is supported throughout. AWD variants add a 20-speaker Yamaha premium audio system.

Powertrain: Up to 410 kW Combined Output
The M8 PHEV L is built around a 1.5T turbocharged engine-based plug-in hybrid system. The AWD version delivers a combined system output of 410 kW, while the FWD variant produces 330 kW. The engine itself contributes 125 kW, with a 205 kW front electric motor handling primary drive duties; the AWD configuration adds an 80 kW rear motor. The transmission is Xinyuan’s GMC 3.0 hybrid unit, with a MacPherson front and multi-link rear independent suspension setup.

Battery duties are handled by a CATL ternary lithium pack with 44.5 kWh of capacity. Under the Chinese CLTC cycle, the AWD version achieves a pure electric range of 235 km, with the FWD version stretching slightly further to 248 km.
