2026 BYD Seagull Launched in China: Optional LiDAR, Up to 405 km Range, Starting at $9650

BYD has officially launched the 2026 Seagull in China, introducing four trim levels priced between 69,900 yuan and 85,900 yuan ($9,650–$11,840 USD). The updated city EV arrives with more standard equipment at unchanged prices — and for the first time, buyers can add a LiDAR-equipped advanced driver assistance package that pushes the price to 90,900–97,900 yuan ($12,530–$13,500 USD).

Pricing

The lineup opens with the 305 km Vitality trim at ¥69,900 (~$9,650). The 305 km Freedom and 405 km Comfort trims are both priced at ¥78,900 (~$10,890), while the top 405 km Flight trim costs ¥85,900 (~$11,840). Buyers who opt for the LiDAR package on the Comfort or Flight trims pay ¥90,900 (~$12,530) and ¥97,900 (~$13,500) respectively.

The Headline Feature: Optional LiDAR

The biggest upgrade is the optional “Eye of God B” (天神之眼B) LiDAR package, which adds BYD’s DiPilot 300 system. When equipped, the Seagull gains urban navigation assist (CNOA), traffic light recognition with live countdown, full-scenario obstacle avoidance, and roundabout navigation — capabilities rarely seen at this price point in any market. A driver monitoring system (DMS) with front and rear collision alerts and automatic emergency braking (AEB) comes standard across the range.
