BYD Dolphin G DM-i Revealed: Europe-Bound Plug-In Hybrid Promises 1,000 km Range
BYD has officially released the first images of the Dolphin G DM-i, a plug-in hybrid hatchback developed specifically for the European market. The model is set to make its official debut in June 2026, with customer deliveries beginning in autumn.
The Dolphin G DM-i marks a strategic push by BYD into one of the world’s most competitive EV markets, combining long-range PHEV capability with a design language tailored to European tastes. BYD has confirmed a combined range of 1,000 km on a single charge-and-tank cycle, powered by the company’s proven DM (Dual Mode) plug-in hybrid system — though further powertrain specifications have yet to be disclosed.

European-Friendly Design
The exterior takes clear cues from the compact hatchback segment that dominates European roads. The front fascia is clean and restrained, featuring a full-width light bar with upswept LED units on either side connected by a black trim panel, with the BYD logo centered prominently. An active grille shutter sits at the lower bumper alongside sculpted air channeling vents.

The side profile is defined by an upward-sweeping character line that gives the car a forward-leaning, athletic stance. Semi-hidden door handles and blacked-out petal-style sport wheels complete the look.
In terms of dimensions, the Dolphin G DM-i measures 4,160 mm in length and 1,825 mm in width — slightly shorter but notably wider than the standard Dolphin sold in China, suggesting a focus on cabin space and driving stability for European roads.

1,000 km Range via BYD DM Technology
The headline figure is the 1,000 km total range enabled by BYD’s DM plug-in hybrid architecture. BYD has not yet released battery capacity, electric-only range, or engine output figures ahead of the June reveal.
